Sr. People Ops Generalist (IC3+) - Distributed / Remote

The position

The primary purpose of this role is to create leverage for our President, who oversees people processes, as we move into a scale up stage of company growth and performance expectations. This role is integral to ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a positive employee experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background partnering with executive stakeholders, competency in HR compliance domestically and abroad, experience with state filings, familiarity with employee relations in a remote environment, sharp organization skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.

This is a career-level role, with commensurate responsibility and compensation. The anticipated salary range is $85,000 to $110,000 in addition to meaningful equity. We are also open to a high-performing fractional hire. Specific compensation will be determined based on your level of experience. We are a fully distributed team.

What You'll Do

Ultimately, you’ll be assisting an innovative travel start-up in reaching global scale by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and support our world-class team. This role requires diligent organization and cross-team communication; we expect you to be a careful steward of the business and treat it as your own.

Compliance and Administration

  • Manage proactively and respond promptly to ensure our fully-distributed company is compliant with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, including I-9 and employment registration processing, updating state filings, and conducting regular audits and updates of HR policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage state filings and reporting requirements to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases, ensuring compliance with record-keeping requirements.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and assist employees with benefits-related inquiries.
  • Assist with payroll processing and ensure timely and accurate compensation for employees.
  • Support in an advisory capacity when it comes to equity and compensation issues.
  • Develop and maintain internal HR systems, process documents, and employee resources.

Employee Experience and L&D

  • Administer and oversee the recruitment process, including job postings, initial candidate screening, candidate tracking, and offer coordination.
  • Execute tasks related to the employee lifecycle including: onboarding, off-boarding, benefits administration, performance and compensation reviews, employee engagement, learning & development, and job changes.
  • Enable managers with best-practices in instilling a performance culture within their distributed teams, including how to implement continuous feedback processes, coaching skills, team building opportunities, measurable performance expectations, and accountability techniques.
  • Support our President in the performance management processes, including performance appraisals, feedback sessions, and development plans.
  • Manage employee relations by addressing issues, resolving conflicts, and providing guidance to employees and managers.
  • Support the implementation of HR initiatives and projects aimed at improving employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

What You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a generalist HR role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR practices, labor laws, and employment regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • A proactive approach and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.
  • GM Skillset: Fast learner, fast executer, strong collaborator.
  • Performance-oriented, with an interest in taking ownership of situations and a desire to roll up your sleeves.
  • A proven history of outstanding performance in startup environments.
