Senior Product Designer - Distributed / Remote

The Position

Do you thrive in a fast-paced startup style environment? Do you enjoy working on a small team delivering rock-solid functionality and performance? Do you have a track record of resolving user pain points through great design?   We are looking for a Senior Product Designer, and if that description resonates with you, you could be an excellent fit for our company.

You’ll be responsible for the design and implementation of all the experiences our users have when interacting with point.me. You will ensure that all elements of the web/mobile experience are optimized for usability, drive desired user behavior, and reflect exceptional visual design. As a key member of our product team reporting directly to our Head of Product, you’ll play a critical role in imagining and iterating new ideas and you’ll collaborate directly with our engineering team to ensure seamless implementation. Additionally, by staying up to date with emerging trends in Product, UX/UI design ,and technology, you’ll be an advocate for establishing design best practices at point.me.

Your work will impact the way rewards points are maximized, and help people travel better!

What You'll Do

  • Make key product design decisions alongside the team, informed by our business goals, product roadmap, user research, and intuition
  • Design new-to-the-world features our users will love
  • Jump in and design for detailed edge cases in Figma, but also be able to zoom out and consider how the UX fits together today and toward our ultimate vision articulated on our roadmap.
  • Fully own design at point.me, including defining every step of the design journey from conception to implementation and evolving our design system. You'll lead internal design sprints to guide our teams to generate new ideas, prioritize amongst alternatives, and successfully handoff to engineering
  • Collaborate with engineering, including joining weekly status update sessions and leading handoff calls to set up the implementation for success.

What You Have

  • Five years of experience: You have significant experience designing consumer digital products and familiarity with UX best practices. We'll want to learn from your experience, so you should have a perspective on what makes a digital product experience exceptional.  As a small startup, we offer a lot of room for growth, but we have limited bandwidth to offer direct design mentorship.
  • Experience leading with minimal direction: You have previously had end-to-end responsibility for product design and you’re comfortable sharing a thoughtful point-of-view, asking smart questions, taking risks, and championing new ideas.  You're excited to collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to bring your design to production.
  • Startup experience: You've experienced the ups and downs of startup life before and you're excited for the adventure.
  • Fluency in industry-standard design applications: We primarily use Figma for prototyping. Experience with HTML/CSS/Tailwind, Adobe Creative Suite, Storybook, and iOS/Android is a plus, but we don't expect extensive experience with these technologies.
  • Solid grasp of human-centered design: You can partner to design, plan, and conduct user research, including A/B testing, rapid prototyping, and user interviews.

What to expect:

Day 1: You'll meet the team and start famiarizing yourself with our product, our roadmap, our users, and our design system.

Day 7: You'll make your first contribution by jumping in to make a small change to a page or feature and then pass it along to engineering for implementation. We're provide direction, but we're looking for you to lead and ask for help when you need it.

Day 30: You'll assume responsibility for end-to-end design and be the go-to person for all questions related to product and UX/UI design. We have an ownership culture, so as soon as you're ready, we'll put you in charge.

About point.me
