Why Am I Not Seeing Savings on Flights?

Sometimes our users are surprised when the flights they find on point.me don’t feel like a “deal.” Totally fair — and we want to walk you through why that happens and how to get more value from your points.

 

💡 What point.me does (and doesn’t) show

point.me helps you find award flights — these are flights you can book using airline miles or transferable credit card points that get moved into a frequent flyer program.

What we don’t show are:

  • Cash fares (even if you can use points to pay for them)

  • Flights only available via airline portals or travel agencies

  • Dynamic pricing that changes based on cash value

So if you’re comparing to something like Amex Travel, the Chase portal, or AA.com cash fares, you’re looking at two totally different systems.

🧠 Common reasons savings aren’t obvious

1. You're only using one airline's miles (like AA)

point.me works best when you have transferable points (Amex, Chase, Capital One, etc.). That gives you access to multiple airline programs — and better redemption options. If you only have AA miles, you’re limited to whatever they offer.

2. You’re comparing to a cash fare or a portal

Cash fares often look “cheaper” because you’re using points at a fixed rate, like 1 cent per point. But award flights can offer outsized value — especially in premium cabins, last-minute bookings, or international routes.

3. Award space is limited

Not every seat is made available for award bookings. Airlines control that space — so if you don’t see what you want, it might just not be released yet (or at all).
