If you find yourself short on points for a booking, don’t worry! You have a couple of options to help you make that reservation.
1. Consolidate Points from Different Issuers
You can often combine points from multiple credit card issuers into a single airline loyalty program. For instance, American Express, Citi, and Capital One points can all be transferred to Avianca Lifemiles. This flexibility allows you to consolidate points to meet the minimum required for your desired flight.
2. Purchase Additional Points
Many airline loyalty programs allow you to purchase additional miles directly. For example, suppose you're planning a trip and find a fantastic business-class flight available for 50,000 Membership Rewards® points through Air Canada Aeroplan, but you only have 45,000 points. Fortunately, Aeroplan allows members to buy the extra points they need. You can transfer your 45,000 Membership Rewards® points and then purchase the remaining points to complete your booking!
