What is the difference between points and miles?

Great question! In short, there’s no practical difference between the two. Loyalty currencies from banks, like American Express Membership Rewards®, are often called “points,” while airline programs, such as Delta SkyMiles®, use the term “miles.”

Regardless of the name, both can be used interchangeably for booking flights.
